International Women's Day: The storybook every little girl should have

Frustrated with the lack of childrens' stories featuring strong compelling female characters authors Francesca Cavallo and Elena Favilli decided to take matters into their own hands.

Their book Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls doesn't feature any damsels in distress waiting to be rescued by Prince Charming, but instead the true stories of iconic women throughout history and the world.

The empowering fairy-tale style book features 100 beautiful illustrations and stories from heroines such as Amelia Earhart, Frida Kahlo, Joan Jett, Michelle Obama, and New Zealand's very own suffragette, Kate Sheppard - who is featured on the New Zealand ten dollar note.

This is definitely a storybook every little (and not so little) girl should own.
