Study: Constantly Altering Our Sleep Cycles Is Really Bad For Us

The word on the street is that frequently interrupting a person’s sleep cycle is like a ticking time bomb; it’s slowly killing us.

Patrica Wong, from the University of Pittsburg, just published a study in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism claiming that interrupting your body’s sleep cycle can cause some major health issues.

She suggests that individuals who work shifts suffer the most as their sleep patterns change more frequently.

Wong states that there is a link between poor sleep patterns and ill health. She suggests that the negative effects include heart disease, a higher BMI and an increased risk of developing diabetes.

Apparently it’s all to do with a person’s chronotypes – the inclination for a person to sleep at a particular time during a 24-hour period.

Previous studies have drawn attention to similar links but this is the first study to draw a connection between poor sleeping patterns and metabolic issues.

So just keep an eye on your sleeping patterns!
