The 'Colour of the Year' for 2018 has been revealed and it's very controversial!

Before we welcome in the New Year, Pantone announces the 'Colour of the Year'.

The 'Colour of the Year' is what they predict will be at the forefront of make up stories, home decor and fashion trends all over the world.

Previous winners include Greenery in 2017 and Rose Quartz in 2016.

But the 2018 winner has just been announced and it really caught us by surprise.

So what was the controversial winner?

Ultra-Violet.

Pantone said the colour is "a dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade" that "communicates originality, ingenuity and visionary thinking that points us to the future".

But internet is not happy.

"I don’t know how I feel about this," wrote one follower.

"NOOOOOOOO!" added another.

"This one can’t be accurate," commented a third.

Another person simply saod: "Boringgg!"
