She was the voice of one of 2012's most infectious hits, when she rode high on the international pop charts with her catchy track Call Me Maybe.

And Carly Rae Jepsen's distinctive hairstyle - consisting of blunt bangs and a jet-blue hue - soon became known as her signature look, according to the Daily Mail.

But when the 32-year-old singer stepped out at the 28th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, it was all change, as she showed off her new bleach blonde pixie cut.

She looked a world away from the image she once sported as she took to the stage alongside Justin Tranter to present an award at Los Angeles' Beverly Hilton.

The star wowed as she stepped out in a blush pink midi dress under a matching trench coat, while a pair of black booties gave her ensemble some edge.

With chandelier earrings illuminating her look, the musician kept her makeup scheme in sync with her outfit, opting for various shades of deep pink.

She was among a host of familiar faces who attended the star-studded ceremony, including Caitlyn Jenner, Paris Jackson, Patricia Arquette and Jeffrey Tambor.

While it may have been the first time that members of the audience had seen Carly Rae's new look, she's actually been sporting the trim since January, when she debuted her lopped locks on her Instagram account.

In a 2013 interview with PopSugar, the hitmaker - who has also sported red tresses - revealed that she's always been quite spontaneous when it comes to trying new things with her hair.

She said: "I get to a point with my hair where I just need to change it for fun. The red was inspired by Disney. They asked me to play Ariel for the diamond release of The Little Mermaid.

"They did a new music video for Part of Your World, and I got to play the part of her in real life. They said, "It's contemporary so you can be a brunette."

"But no, Ariel has to have red hair. So I dyed it extremely red for that, and then after, I toned it down for my day to day."
