Last year country music singer Carrie Underwood warned fans her appearance had changed after having an emergency operation following a bad fall at her house in November.

The 35-year-old tripped on some steps outside her home and was left with a broken wrist as well as having between 40 and 50 stitches in her face.

At the time the 'American Idol' winner wrote: "It's crazy how a freak random accident can change your life... In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well."

"I'll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told Mike [Fisher, Carrie's husband] that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in."

Carrie said that following the fall she was "not quite looking the same."

She added: "I honestly don't know how things are going to end up... And when I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different."

Now five months on, Carrie - who has a two-year-old son Isaiah - has shared her first selfie following the accident.

And she looks as beautiful as always!

With a big smile across her face, the 'Before He Cheats' hitmaker took to Instagram to share the snap as she rehearsed for a performance at the Academy of Country Music Awards.

She wrote alongside the photo: "Had a great rehearsal for the @acmawards ! Can’t wait until tomorrow night! #CryPretty #ACMAwards"

We're happy to see her performing again!
