Here's why Prince William can’t be Prince Harry’s ‘best man’ at the royal wedding

The count down is on!

That's right. There's only six months until Prince Harry and Meghan Markle become husband and wife.

And while it's all anyone can talk about, one interesting bit of information has emerged about the royal wedding.

Most royal followers are betting on Prince William standing by Harry's side as 'best man', especially because he was bestowed that honour at his brothers wedding in 2011.

However, it's being reported Harry "probably won't" choose William due to a technicality.

According to Marlene Koenig, a royalty expert, there is no such thing as a 'best man' being a part of proceedings at a British royal wedding.

"The best man or best men are officially called supporters," she revealed.

According to Koenig, it also goes against etiquette for someone of William's standing to "attend" to another man.

But that hasn't stopped royals from breaking protocol and giving someone the honorary title, anyway.

Interestingly, William broke protocol at his wedding to Kate Middleton after Harry reportedly joked he would refuse to participate in anything unless he was given the title.

So we're pretty confident Harry will return the favour.

An unnamed source has since told US Weekly that "Harry has several close guy friends, but there's no way he would ask anyone but William to take on the top job."

As for Meghan, she too may choose to break tradition and have a maid of honor just like the Duchess of Cambridge did when she asked her sister, Pippa Middleton, to play the role.
