Some of the boy bands in the '90s had rather peculiar names - but how on earth did they come up with them?

Luckily, we've done the research for you:

Apparently, the name *NSYNC was made up by Justin Timberlake's mother using the last letter of each member's first name!

Justin Timberlake's N, Chris Kirkpatrick's S, Joey Fatone's Y, Jason (Lance) Bass' N and JC Chasez's C.

If that didn't blow your mind, we're not sure what will ...

Perhaps the fact that The Backstreet Boys named their band after a market in Orlando, Florida - where the band first formed - called the Backstreet Market.

As for Hanson, well, it's obvious that the three brothers used their last name, Hanson ...

But did you know that the trio has their own beer brand called mmmHops? Amazing!

Make sure you tune into The Hits this Easter Weekend where we will be counting down the top 500 tracks from the '90s til now! You could even win a $100 fuel voucher thanks to Caltex!

Will any of these '90s boy bands make the list? Listen to find out.
