If it ain't broke, then don't fix it is clearly the style mantra of Jennifer Aniston when it comes to attending Hollywood's biggest occasion.

It's 17 years since a 31-year-old Aniston attended the Academy Awards on the arm of Brad Pitt in 2000, wearing a plunging black gown... but, as images from last night's awards show reveal, Aniston has a trusted style formula and she's sticking to it, the Daily Mail reports.

Fast forward to 2017 and the 48-year-old may be standing next to a different man - husband of two years Justin Theroux - but her hair, dress and even make-up look remarkably similar to her millennium year look.

Last night, the actress looked stunning in a black custom gown by Atelier Versace and black strappy heeled sandals.

The glimmering bespoke gown flaunted her gym-honed figure but protected her modesty with a scattering of sequins.

Other additions? A cool $10million worth of diamonds and a black box clutch purse in her hand.

Details of the custom-made Lorraine Scwartz 100 carat diamond earrings, which were worth $9,500,000, and a matching 20 carat Golconda diamond ring worth $1,200,000 were posted by the jeweller on social media.

Add in her perfectly honed physique and poker straight long blonde tresses and Aniston's age-defying time capsule look was complete.

The couple, who married in 2015, cosied up and grinned for the sea of cameras, walking arm in arm and acting seemingly inseparable throughout the evening.

Far from being stuck in a style rut, the 48-year-old clearly knows exactly what works for her.

Her hair, super straight and super glossy looked almost identical to the way she wore it back in 2000, when she was at the height of her Friends fame and married to one of the world's most famous men.

Of Aniston's faithful approach to fashion, fashion writer Simon Glazin told Femail: "She may have changed husbands over the years, but Jennifer hasn't altered her style!

They say if it ain't broke, don't fix it, and this rings true with Jennifer's red carpet choice. She loves dark colours: black, dark navy blue, sometimes a deep jewel tone, and won't deviate. And it works her for."

While Aniston looked sensational last night, her former beau Brad Pitt was among the stars giving the glitzy ceremony the boot this year.

While Pitt did make an appearance at the Golden Globes earlier this month, he clearly didn't fancy an evening with his fellow A-listers.

Other notable absences included Pitt's ex-wife Angelina Jolie, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lawrence, Cate Blanchett, George Clooney and Julianne Moore.
