Getting used to sending your young child off to school can be a hard adjustment for any parent.

And it seems the same goes for Royalty.

Kate Middleton has opened up about how she too finds it hard to leave her eldest son Prince George at school every morning.

"As a mother, just getting used to leaving my own child at the school gates, it is clear to me that it takes a whole community to help raise a child," she explained.

The Duchess of Cambridge - who is pregnant with her third child - missed George's first school drop off because she was suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form morning sickness.

But it appears that hasn't stopped her from taking George to school on other occasions.

Kate was speaking at a forum organised by the charity Place2Be about how schools can help children deal with mental health issues.

"I believe what you all know to be true, that getting help and support to young children at the very earliest stage helps improve their outcomes later in life," she said during her speech.

"Whether we are school leaders, teachers, support staff or parents we are all in this together.

"We are all working to give children the emotional strength they need to face their future lives and thrive."

Kate's expectant baby is due to arrive in April.
