Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander have gotten married

Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander have tied the knot.

The happy couple got married in front of close family and friends at a private ceremony at the luxurious La Granja in Ibiza over the weekend.

Michael and Alicia - who met three years ago on the set of The Light Between Oceans where Alicia played Michael's character's wife - celebrated their nuptials across the whole weekend, starting on Friday, where they enjoyed the sunshine at the beach. After lunch, they all headed out in a cruise, with the memories being documented by a professional photographer, E! News reports.

And in pictures obtained by The Daily Mail newspaper, the pair are seen wearing wedding rings as they went about their day.

A source had previously claimed that Alicia and Michael were planning to marry in secret in October.

The insider explained: "The details of the party are being kept under lock and key. Guests have been told to arrive in Ibiza on a certain date and they will then be collected and taken to the hotel. He's splashing out big time and it's going to be the party of the year."

Alicia had previously revealed how she and Michael found it "easy" to fall in love as they made an instant connection.

She said: "I think we've made a clear statement that we keep certain things just between us. It was very easy to unite, but that's quite personal."

Whilst Michael added: "It wasn't the first time in a movie either of us had played somebody who is falling in love. There is an element of separation there. If I'm playing a murderer, I don't go out and start murdering people."

And the 29-year-old actress gushed about how "sweet" Michael was when they first met.

She shared: "He was very sweet at letting me in ... He was like, 'Can you please give me a note? What do you think I should do?' It was such a sweet thing to kind of let me in."
