She left many people scratching their heads after a video of her unusual clapping at the Oscars went viral.

And Nicole Kidman had a few things to clear up as she appeared on The Ellen Show, where she demonstrated to the audience that she knows how to clap just fine, according to the Daily Mail.

The 49-year-old explained she was awkwardly applauding as both she and her husband Keith Urban worried the expensive diamond rings she was wearing would be damaged - before demonstrating to the talk show hostess she can properly clap.

The hilarious subject was brought up after Ellen mentioned Nicole's film Lion, which was nominated for an Academy Awards.

"You got a lot of attention for the way you were clapping," Ellen said.

Clearly embarrassed, the actress exclaimed: "Ellen!"

"Did you know ahead of time that you clapped in a different way?" Ellen asked.

"I don't clap like that!" Nicole said. "I do not clap like that! That is a weird lens!" she insisted as video of her applause appeared on the screen behind her.

"The lens didn't do it to anybody else's fingers!" Ellen pointed out. "How can you make any noise like that? You're not even really clapping."

"Because I borrowed ... it's the Cinderella thing. You borrow these expensive jewels, and I'm like, 'I must not damage these diamonds!' 'Cause I have to give them back at midnight! And so I'm like, clapping," she said while demonstrating the unusual applause once again.

"And they went back beautifully in tact! Not a scratch on them!" Nicole boasted. "Cause Keith's like, 'Do not damage the diamonds!'" she added.

Ellen continued to give Nicole a hard time: "I don't know if diamonds are that fragile, a lot of people clap with diamonds ... you two were being a little too cautious with your diamonds. Have you not owned real diamonds before?"

"I have a real diamond," Nicole said before looking down at her own rings. "And these are my diamonds."

"And let's see you clap right now, how do you clap?"

"I worked on it!" she joked before clapping for Ellen.

The actress also discussed her upcoming 50th birthday, which she will celebrate in June.

"I'm like, proudly 50," she declared.
