Next month sees the return of My Kitchen Rules New Zealand with celebrity chefs Pete Evans and Manu Feildel at the judging table.

And Spy can reveal this season’s guest judges give the Kiwi show its flavour. Alongside the Aussie megastar hosts will be renowned local chefs Nadia Lim, Sean Connolly, Ray McVinnie and Tom Hishon of Orphans Kitchen. The format has been Kiwi-sized, screening once a week instead of the madcap Aussie multi-viewing bonanza.

The heat is on as six teams battle it out for $100,000 in prize money. They will compete in six rounds of instant restaurants at the contestants’ homes, before taking the sudden-death cook-offs on the road in commercial kitchens, as this season also says goodbye to Kitchen HQ over 10 weeks.

Sources tell Spy the teams are an eclectic mix and there may well be a romance forming in early rounds.

Shortland Street and rugby stars will be spotted enjoying the competition’s fare at the cook-offs.

The series was filmed this year with Evans and Feildel criss-crossing the Tasman. In a few weeks, the pair will be back for a star-studded launch party at TVNZ.
