Not so naked and 25 years on, the baby from Nirvana's groundbreaking Nevermind album has recreated the iconic cover shot.

Spencer Elden, who is also 25 years old told the New York Post that he originally wanted to do the shoot in the nuddy.

"I said to the photographer, 'Let's do it naked.' But he thought that would be weird, so I wore my swim shorts," said Elden.

Nevermind, released 25 years ago on Saturday, has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide and includes hit songs like Smells Like Teen Spirit and Come as You Are.

"The anniversary means something to me. It's strange that I did this for five minutes when I was four months old and it became this really iconic image," he said.

"It's cool but weird to be part of something so important that I don't even remember," said Elden.

The original photo of Spencer as a baby was taken by photographer Kirk Weddle in 1991.

According to an interview with NPR, his parents only made $200 and the original photoshoot lasted 15 seconds.

Earlier this month, the photographer John Chapple paid Elden $200 to do it again, he told the Post.

Elden also did the same thing 10 years ago for the album's 15th anniversary.
