If you’ve always dreamed of getting married but don’t see a proposal from your partner on the horizon then there’s a lot more than you can do than just wait around and hope.

Love guru Sami Wunder believes that women who want to tie the knot should date multiple men until she gets offered a shiny engagement ring, rather than just settling for being a long-term girlfriend.

It’s a step she took in her own life, and it actually worked out.

For single women, Sami says this means holding off on the "benefits of a relationship" such as sex or being exclusive until the man is willing to get down on one knee.

But what about women who are already in a steady - yet ring-less - relationship?

"Make it really clear that marriage is what you want because men are not mind-readers," Sami says.

"You have to bring it to the table that that is what you want and this is not going to be in an ultimatum kind of way, but in an honest, sharing kind of way: 'This is what I want, this is where I want to go, what do you think?'"

And if after this conversation there is still no ring in sight, Sami suggests women "need to get out there and look for other options".

"A lot of people look at this as a way of manipulating men, and that is where I fundamentally disagree with. Because I don’t believe you can make a man do anything he doesn’t want to do, especially a man who has self-respect.

"Going out with other men is all about a woman understanding that she deserves to have forever commitment and if she’s not getting it from this current partner then she has the right to get out there and attract that partner into her life who is going to be willing and ready and happily giving her the commitment that she desires.

"From the women’s perspective, it’s about understanding that there’s always a better man, another better man who’s ready and willing to give you what you desire.

"And of course, from the man’s perspective it’s a little bit like a shake-up wake-up call that if he doesn’t step up and claim the prize that is there in his life, he’s going to lose."
