Meet Marlborough Apprentice #11, Seta Baker from NMIT!

Seta started the two-year New Zealand Certificate in Aeronautical Engineering, Level 4 programme, offered by NMIT exclusively in New Zealand. While Seta won’t be officially starting his workplace training until next year, he will be getting hands-on learning at the RNZAF Woodbourne base in preparation. Seta studies hard and commutes to Nelson weekly for his rugby training with the Tasman Mako’s. This year the Tasman Rugby Union recognised the promise they see in Seta and have awarded him a scholarship to support his study.

Why did you get into your industry?

I took my first flight to Tonga. And just from there, I've just been in love with aircrafts and I've wanted to be a pilot or work on them.

How long have you been in your industry?

I started my training this year.

Highlights of working in my industry?

I’m a hands-on person, it’s great to work on real aircraft and to figure out the science behind flight.
