WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR THE CHRISTCHURCH VIGIL

The event is being held at North Hagley Park from 5pm on Sunday, 24th of March 2019. We will be using the stage that was set up for the Bryan Adams concert.

Water will be available (BYO vessel) 

Food will not be available however you are encouraged to bring a picnic 

There will be 50 portaloos onsite

There will be road closures around North Hagley Park - see below for further details

Security, Police, Vbase, and Council Staff will be on site to assist with safety and event management.

 

 

 

Security messages:

·Police continue to have a presence throughout the city and at as many events as possible.  This includes these two events being held over the weekend at North Hagley Park.

·There will be a Police presence.  There will also be professional security staff and Council and VBase staff acting as marshalls.

·Police remind the public that if they see anything suspicious to report it to the Police.

 

Transport messages:

 ·Plan ahead.  It’s going to be busy in the areas around North Hagley Park, Park Terrace and Rolleston Avenue.  Please plan your journey and allow plenty of travel time to get to/from the North Hagley Park area.

·We encourage people to travel on the free public transport, by cycle or on foot to the event.

·Car-parking is available in the central city, with only a short walk to North Hagley Park.  Find car-parks using our interactive map.

·Free public transport, including the Diamond Harbour ferry, will be available on:
          Sunday 24 March from 2pm onwards.
          All services will run to their usual weekend timetables.
          Visit Metroinfo or call 03 366 8855 for information on bus routes and timetables. 


·Cycle stands and scooter parking zones will be available at North Hagley Park. These will be situated near the roundabout over the Armagh Street Bridge and near the back of the event site (next to the Golf course).

 

Specific traffic Information - for around area of North Hagley Park, Park Terrace, Rolleston Avenue

·If you’re travelling in and around the city and in the North Hagley Park area please plan ahead and allow enough time for travel. 

·There are road closures and route changes in place at certain times on Saturday and Sunday around Park Terrace, Rolleston Avenue and surrounding streets.  These will be sign-posted.

·         Park Terrace/Rolleston Avenue between Kilmore Street and Cashel Street - road closure.

·         Park Terrace between Kilmore Street and Salisbury Street - one-way northbound, with a drop-off zone in place.

Drop-off zone:  northbound lane, Park Terrace between Kilmore Street and Salisbury Street.

Mobility parking available at Chester Street West, with access via Cranmer Square.

Parking:  No on-street parking on Rolleston Avenue between Armagh Street and Cashel Street.

·         Park Terrace between Bealey Avenue and Dorset Street – road closure.

·         Park Terrace between Dorset Street and Salisbury Street – one-way southbound (left-hand turn only on Dorset Street).

·         Park Terrace between Kilmore Street and Salisbury Street – one-way northbound.

·         Rolleston Avenue between Armagh Street and Cashel Street – one-way southbound.

Drop-off zone:  northbound lane, Park Terrace between Chester Street and Salisbury Street.

Mobility parking available at Chester Street West, with access via Cranmer Square.

Parking:  No on-street parking on Rolleston Avenue between Armagh Street and Cashel Street.
