ou know you're in the 21st Century when a piece of wearable fitness technology is the first thing to tell you you're pregnant!

A husband took to the internet to voice his concern over his wife's Fitbit device, saying the wearable wrist piece was registering an unusual heart rate reading.

"My wife's Fitbit is showing her heartbeat being consistently high over the last few days," Reddit user YoungPTone wrote.

"Two days ago, a somewhat normal day, she logged 10 hours in the fat burning zone, which I would think to be impossible based on her activity level....I'm not sure if something is wrong with the sensor. Is there a way to reset or recalibrate the device? I'd like to try that before I contact customer service about a possible replacement."

Several people suggested reasons for the reading, with one suggesting the possibility of pregnancy.

Turns out, the reason for the reading wasn't exactly what he was expecting.

Days after posting the initial concern, YoungPTone revealed the cause of the increased heartrate;

"I'm going to be a dad," he posted.

YoungPTone and his wife's baby is due in October this year.
