Bindi Irwin shares touching tribute to her dad on what would have been his 55th birthday

Yesterday would've been beloved Australian wildlife expert Steve Irwin's (aka "The Crocodile Hunter") 55th birthday.

To mark the emotional occasion Bindi Irwin took to Instagram with a heartfelt post in honour of her late dad - who died in September 2006 - by sharing a picture of him face-to-face with a cockatoo.

Alongside the photo, she wrote: "Always in our hearts. (sic)"

The 18-year-old beauty lost her fearless dad when she was just 8 years old. 

Thousands of social media users responded to Bindi’s tribute, offering her comfort.

“Your dad is missed. He would be so unbelievably proud of you,” one Twitter user wrote.

“You and your family are a great testament to and continuation of his legacy,” another said. “Thank you.”
