Ellen DeGeneres dislocated her finger after having two glasses of wine.

The 59-year-old comedienne talked about the painful experience on her chat show, the Daily Mail reports.

The showbiz veteran had a noticeable bandage wrapped around her left ring finger as she hosted the show.

She explained: "I had two glasses of wine and fell into a door."

The funnywoman went on to explain that she and wife Portia de Rossi were coming home from a dinner party when an incident happened.

She said: "We were at the door, the dogs were so excited to see us and I caught the lip of the top step.

"I was a foot away from the door and I fell into the door and it did something to my finger, I knew something was wrong."

After realising what had happened, the 44-year-old Arrested Development drove her to to the emergency room.

Ellen had a good attitude despite the injury as she joked: "My first thought was, 'No big deal, Obama Care will cover this.'"

Despite the catastrophic situation, the staff at the hospital was obviously starstruck by the A-lister as Ellen said the receptionist even wanted a few autographs.

The host said: "And when I got there, of course, the receptionist had so many things for me to sign: a picture for her nephew, a T-shirt for her."

The American star has still maintained her sense of humour as she even poked fun at her diagnosis by saying: "I dislocated my finger. That’s what they call it, which is an incorrect term because I knew where it was located.

"It was just wrongly located is what it was…So, do you know what they do when you dislocate your finger? It’s very technical.

"What they do is they take the part that’s dislocated and then they just snap it right back into place."

Before she had her finger put back into place a nurse asked if she wanted an injection for the pain.

Ellen replied: "No, I had two glasses of wine. That’s what got me into this mess in the first place."

Despite the pain and the mess, things did eventually pay off for the star as she was given a large check to help people in need.

She explained: "So it was a hard weekend for me. But I put on a brave face and I made it through.

"And luckily my friends from Shutterfly heard my story and they love helping people out in need, so they wanted to present me with this check for $10,000, which is so nice."
