Weight isn’t really about a number on the scales - and this California mum is living proof.

“I THANK GOD I didn’t let the scale stop me…I couldn't care less what I weigh,” the mother of four wrote in the caption of her post, in which she says she is now a US size 10 instead of a size 16.

After spending years trying various eating plans she decided to stop yo-yo dieting and focus on strength training. Osuna started lifting weights five days a week and doing cardio three days a week. She also intermittently fasts for 15 hours overnight, which some studies have suggested may help shed unwanted fat.

“I really want women to know that the scale should not be the only factor they consider,” she tells PEOPLE. “They should take measurements and pictures and go based on how they feel and look. Freedom from the scale is so liberating!”

But Osuna is not done yet. Her ultimate goal is a size 6.

So throw away your scales... NOW!
