It seems to happen quite quickly for leading ladies in romantic movies … but a new study has discovered how long it actually takes for real women to have a real orgasm.
According to the study it takes, on average, women 13 minutes and 25 seconds to climax.
The data was collected from 645 straight women, in 21 different countries, who were asked to start a stopwatch once they became sexually aroused, and stop the stopwatch once they had reached an orgasm.
The research showed that time ranged it took started from just 5 minutes 42 seconds, to a little more than 21minutes. However, one in six of the women who took part never experienced a climax during intercourse.

All the women who took part in the study – published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine - were either in long-term relationships or married. The average age of the women was 30-years-old, however, the scientists indicated that age and longevity of the relationship did not have a significant effect on the time it took to climax.
Meanwhile, a previous study conducted in 2009 found that it takes an average time of just six minutes for a man to reach orgasm.
