Italian scientists have GREAT news for pasta lovers around the world.

A new study says that eating pasta doesn’t actually make you fat, and it might even help with weight loss.

Italian researchers examined the diets of over 23,000 adults and discovered that pasta consumption was actually associated with a lower prevalence of obesity as well as a healthy body mass index (BMI).

The study published in the Nutrition & Diabetes journal found that people who ate lots of pasta generally followed the Mediterranean diet, which is rich in vegetables, fruit, fish, olive oil and whole grains.

The paper’s lead author George Pounis said, "We have seen that consumption of pasta, contrary to what many think, is not associated with an increase in body weight, rather the opposite. Our data show that enjoying pasta according to individuals' needs contributes to a healthy body mass index, lower waist circumference and better waist-hip ratio".

WOOHOOOOO! Great news for Pasta lovers.
