A choir director got the greatest send off as her schoolchildren sang to her just minutes before she lost her battle with cancer, KHOU reports.

Mariane Walker was the choir director at Alvin Junior High School in Texas for many years, but had to give up her position because cancer took hold of her.

The children came to sing 'Hillsong's Oceans' to her as she spent her last moments in her home.

Laura Sammons, friends with Mariane said: "They had this beautiful song to sing for her. We opened the doors and just let the sound float in there."

Minutes later, Mariane's battle was over and she passed away.

A memorial scholarship has been set up in her name at the school. People can donate here.
