A lucky player has won $7.1 million in last night's Lotto draw.

The winning Powerball First Division ticket was sold at AJ's Lotto in Tauranga.

It is the third time Powerball First Division has been struck this year, coming just over two weeks since a ticket bought in Ohakune won $6.8 million.

Last night's winning ticket was made up of $7 million from Powerball First Division and $100,000 from Lotto First Division.

Nine other Lotto players around the country also won $100,000.

The winning Lotto tickets were sold at New World New Lynn, Whiteacres Superette and Countdown Manurewa in Auckland; and City Books and Lotto in Rotorua. Three winning tickets were bought online with MyLotto, while two were bought at Motueka New World.

The winners of the $6.8 million Ohakune ticket took eight days to claim their prize after forgetting they had even purchased a ticket.

Meanwhile, in early January a family from Timaru won $7 million with Powerball First Division.
