A thief has taken advantage of the open doors at Auckland's Holy Trinity Cathedral in Parnell.
Footage from the Cathedral's security systems shows a man enter and wrench open a secure donation box to remove the money after a service.
The same day, computer hardware and chalices used for communion, were also taken.
The Cathedral has released security footage of the man as they hope to identify him.
Dean of the Cathedral, the Very Reverend Jo Kelly-Moore, said locks and keys are part of life, but it would be hoped that a church could be a place which is respected and open.
