A man is recovering in hospital and another is due to appear in court after a stabbing in Lower Hutt last night.

Police said the man was stabbed in the neck at a Lower Hutt pizza shop on Queens Road around 9pm yesterday.

He was taken to Wellington Hospital where he had surgery and was now in a stable condition.

A 41-year-old Lower Hutt man was arrested after being tracked by police dogs after the incident.

He is due to appear in Hutt Valley District Court today.
