Gunmen have apparently opened fire near a restaurant area of Bastille, in Paris.

Early reports suggest that one person is wounded and one arrest has been made.

Injuries sustained are serious.

It’s believed that two gunmen are on the run following the gunfire outside an eaterie called Chez Papa on Boulevard de la Bastille.

At this point it's unclear what the cause of the shooting was, with some media speculating that it was a shootout following a 'quarrel'.

The French capital is on high alert following the devastating terror attacks in November last year.
