Guy Sebastian talks music and NZ tour with Matty & Matilda

Guy Sebastian is back with a brand new album, 100 Times Around the Sun, and it’s all about joy, soul, and doing life with the people who matter most.

Chatting with Matty and Matilda, Guy opened up about how far he’s come since winning Australian Idol back in 2003.

“None of us actually knew it would become this massive thing,” he said, remembering the early days of reality TV fame - and the fans camping outside his parents’ house with “Go the fro” signs!

Now, after six years coaching on The Voice and a bit of a break to focus on family and music, Guy poured his heart into this new album.

“Joy is a choice,” he shared. “You can have joy in the face of adversity.”

And that message runs deep through the record, which blends soul, R&B, a touch of country - and some of the best ballads he’s ever written. 

He’s also heading out on tour - and yes, New Zealand is on the list!

“I’m just desperate to come over with the band,” he said, adding that his son is especially excited to go fishing.

 “One of the biggest snapper I’ve ever caught was in Auckland Harbour!”
