Lucy Lawless is back with TV’s most addictive Kiwi crime drama
Kiwi screen legend Lucy Lawless is back as private investigator Alexa Crowe in My Life Is Murder, with season 5 premiering this Sunday on TVNZ 1 and TVNZ+.
Speaking with Matty and Matilda, Lawless shared her excitement about the show’s longevity. “These days, nothing goes more than three years generally… so for something to go five years and keeping Kiwis working is a major priority,” she said. “Auckland looks gorgeous… It’s just another side of New Zealand and life, which is kind of sexy and urban.”
Beyond acting, Lawless is diving into writing and directing. “I’ve got a film script - well, two on the boil in development… and that’s keeping me really busy and it’s super exciting.”
She also reflected on her career, including her iconic role in Xena: Warrior Princess. “It was only six years… we did the first season - 24 episodes - and thereafter 22. It’s unheard of these days.”
Season 5 promises fresh storylines and guest stars like Keisha Castle-Hughes and Wistar Bees. “More aspirational kind of murder scenes in worlds we don’t often get to look at… like the modelling world,” Lawless teased.
Catch the new season this Sunday, August 3, at 8:30PM on TVNZ1 and on TVNZ+ - murder, mystery, and a whole lot of Kiwi charm await.
