Matty & PJ’s Anaheim adventure was filled with plenty of antics

From touching down with listeners to unexpected birthday moments and a helicopter trip to Catalina Island, Matty & PJ packed plenty into their Anaheim getaway.

What started as a trip to celebrate Matty McLean’s 40th birthday quickly turned into one of Matty & PJ’s most memorable adventures yet.

Broadcasting live from Anaheim, the pair joined competition winners Laura and Nicole, who won the chance to travel to California as part of Matty’s "40 Before 40" celebrations - thanks to Air New Zealand and Visit Anaheim.

The trip got off to a chaotic start, with PJ managing to spill something through all of her washing shortly after arriving, while the team spent their first day exploring Anaheim and soaking up the excitement of being Stateside.

The birthday celebrations continued throughout the week, including one moment Matty definitely wasn't expecting. While ordering breakfast, the newly 40-year-old was reportedly asked for ID, proving that sometimes age really is just a number.

There were also plenty of classic Matty & PJ moments along the way. Listeners heard stories from their adventures around Southern California, including a helicopter trip across the coast to Catalina Island, where the team took in spectacular views and squeezed even more sightseeing into the trip ... and of course visiting Disneyland!

The Anaheim trip was the final chapter in Matty's 40 Before 40 celebrations and gave two lucky listeners the chance to be part of the action. Judging by the stories they've brought back, it was a week filled with laughs, surprises and just enough travel mishaps to make it unforgettable.
