Laura McGoldrick reveals the newest and most popular baby names of 2020 so far

When it comes to baby names in 2020, it seems we like to stick with the classics.

Laura McGoldrick unveiled the top 20 most popular baby names for boys and girls taken from a recent study out of Australia.

The 10 most popular boys names are:

  1. Oliver
  2. Noah
  3. Jack
  4. William
  5. Leo
  6. Lucas
  7. Thomas
  8. Henry
  9. Charlie
  10. James

The 10 most popular girls names are:

  1. Charlotte
  2. Olivia
  3. Amelia
  4. Isla
  5. Mia
  6. Ava
  7. Grace
  8. Willow
  9. Harper
  10. Chloe

Many of these popular picks echo what the trendiest names of the last decade were in New Zealand, with the likes of Charlotte, Jack, Olivia and Oliver often being front-runners.

However, it seems there are a handful of new names that are becoming a big hit, making it into the top 100 most popular baby names for the very first time this year.

The seven new boys names include Ezra (66), Felix (72), Marcus (88), Fletcher (91), Ari (97), Aaron (98) and Billy (100).

As for the girls, there are six new names to jump into the top 100: Sadie (65), Madeline (80), Riley (81), Peyton (89), Lilly (96) and Rosie (98).

Sadly, Laura's daughter's name Harley has dropped off the top 100, but at least that means she'll be unique!

Know anyone who’s used these names for their newborn so far this year?
