After years of wondering if there was going to be a squel to 2008’s ABBA-inspired musical film Mamma Mia!, we were finally treated to Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.

While the film has been a HUGE hit, grossing $100 million in just four weeks, the standout performance undoubtedly goes to Cher.

Making her grand entrance in the film by belting out 'Fernando' while arriving on a helicopter, there's no question Cher and ABBA are a match made in heaven!

So, naturally, the popstar has been inspired to released an entire album of ABBA covers.

"I’ve always liked Abba and saw the original Mamma Mia musical on Broadway three times," Cher said.

"After filming Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, I was reminded again of what great and timeless songs they wrote and started thinking, ‘Why not do an album of their music?’ The songs were harder to sing than I imagined but I’m so happy with how the music came out. I’m really excited for people to hear it. It’s a perfect time."

The first single, which debuted this week, is a cover of the Swedish disco group's 'Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)'.

Working alongside her longtime collaborator Mark Taylor - who previously produced Cher’s global hit single 'Believe' - the iconic hit features thumping bass, soaring synths and super-slick auto-tuned vocals.

But while some fans say the banger is perfect for a Friday night boogie, others are saying gimme, gimme gimme some earplugs.

The 72-year-old singer's tribute album, Dancing Queen, is set to be released on September 28 and will feature some of ABBA’s best-loved classics such as 'Waterloo', 'SOS' and 'Mamma Mia'.
