Despite being known for his devilry streak, Coronation Street star, Jack P. Shepard, had one very devoted Kiwi fan.

Shepherd - who first hit our screens back in 2000 as David Platt - recently took to Instagram with his co-star Julia Goulding to play 'Ask Me Anything'.

One fan replied to the post asking: "What is the kindest thing a fan has ever done for you?"

Instantly, the 30-year-old actor recalled the moment that he received a hefty sum of money from our very own shores.

"Gave me £5,000 (NZ$9,635) in their will. From New Zealand, a fan. Died and gave me ten percent of his estate which was five grand so cheers."

Despite thanking the fan, Shepherd didn't reveal what he did with the money after he received it.

It's been a big year on the soap for Shepherd, as he took on a high-profile storyline that saw him drugged and raped by Josh Tucker.

He recently won the best actor gong at the British Soap Awards for his performance of the storyline.

Coronation Street continues at 9.30pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays on TVNZ 1.
