Dr. Phil shocks fans with bizarre new look following April Fool's prank

When you hear the name Dr. Phil McGraw you can't help but think of his trademark 'stache ... well, that and his straight-talking advice.

But the talk show host gave fans the shock of their life when he took a razor to his iconic moustache and showed off a freshly naked upper lip.

Alongside a series of photos and a video of the big shave on Instagram, the 68-year-old TV host scared the living daylights out of everyone writing: "Well... I did it."

But, thankfully, the bold transformation was actually just a cheeky April Fool's prank.

Yep, he succeeded in duping us all.

Revealing the prank on his Instagram, Dr. Phil wrote: "April Phils!"

If prank had actually been true, it would've been the first time McGraw has gone clean-shaven since 2010, when he shaved off his moustache during The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Before that he hadn't removed it in 40 years!
