Fans are slamming Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles for rape "joke"

Supernatural's Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles have come under major fire after casually making a joke about date rape.

The pair, who are affectionately nicknamed J2, made the joke in response to a question at the Creation Entertainment's Official Supernatural Convention.

When a fan asked about pick-up lines, Jared said all of his were "really offensive", but proceeded to say: "Excuse me, does this rag smell like chloroform to you?"

Jensen replied with: "No, Mr Cosby."

More than 50 women have accused Cosby of drugging and/or sexually assaulting them, amongst many other cases of sexual harassment and assault currently coming to light in Hollywood.

Immediately the pair were flooded with backlash from fans online.

Haven’t been a fan of Supernatural for long, but I was enjoying getting in to the storyline until the J2(as they are known)decided to make a horrible joke about rape at their convention! Seriously? Trivializing the horror that too many women face is disgusting. #formerfan

Do not come at me trying to defend j2 over the rape joke. It's not just harmless fun. It normalises rape in our culture.
