"Favourite" To Play Mary Poppins In Disney's New Musical Revealed

On Monday, it was revealed that Disney is set to develop a new live-action musical featuring Mary Poppins.

With that, people are beginning to speculate who might land the role!

BoyleSports, an Ireland-based online betting firm, announced Tuesday that Anne Hathaway is the current favorite to pick up Poppins’ bag and umbrella, with 6/4 odds.

According to the bettors, the other leading actresses include Emily Blunt (5/2), Amy Adams (7/2), Kristen Bell (11/2), and Anna Kendrick (10/1).

Amanda Seyfried (12/1), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (16/1), Lea Michele (33/1), and Anna Camp (50/1) have also been added to the list.

The film is set to take place in Depression-era London, 20 years after Disney’s classic 1964 Mary Poppins, and will draw from existing Poppins tales in the rest of author P.L. Travers’ children’s book series. It is set to have Into the Woods director Rob Marshall and producers John DeLuca and Marc Platt.

This speculation coincides with the release of the Jungle Book Trailer that was published online this morning.
