Former Home and Away actor jailed for sexual assault

Martin Lynes, best known for his roles on Home and Away, McLeod’s Daughters, Packed To The Rafters, and All Saints, has been sentenced to five years in jail after being found guilty of sexual assault.

The 50-year-old - who played Adam Sharpe, Ricky Sharpe's brother on the Aussie soap - was found guilty by a jury in August last year.

Lynes had faced three charges relating to alleged incidents that occurred on three separate occasions between May 2015 and February 2016.

He was found not guilty on two other charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and having sexual intercourse without consent.

The former actor is expected to serve a minimum of two years and six months.

Lynes had pled not guilty to the charges and denies ever being violent towards the woman.

The woman was treated for her injuries in hospital.

After leaving Home and Away in 2013, Lynes retired from acting.

He more recently worked as a real estate agent.
