Former Miss Great Britain sparks outrage over her controversial plans for a "designer baby"

Former Miss Great Britain, Danielle Lloyd, has been severely criticised after revealing her plans to have gender selection surgery in order to guarantee she will have a daughter.

The 34-year-old model - who already has four sons - is desperate to have a girl to "complete" her family, after previously admitting she was "a little bit disappointed" to have had a fourth son in September.

Speaking to the 'Loose Women' panel about looking into the controversial method of choosing the sex of her next child, she said: "As long as the baby's healthy then it shouldn't matter."

"Everyone's going to have their opinions, but it's something I want to do and it's my life. For me, I just want my family to be complete, do I carry on having babies and end up with 10 boys?"

Lloyd appeared on the TV show to defend the 'designer baby' procedure - which is currently not legal in the UK - after being attacked by online trolls.

She added: “I understand (people) have got opinions, but why judge me?”

“I love my boys, I’m so thankful I’ve got them and I wouldn’t change them for the world, my house is a crazy house, but they even keep saying to me, ‘mummy, is our little baby sister in there yet?’ and I’m like, ‘no that’s just my food’.”

But viewers were even more unimpressed.

One person tweeted: "Very insensitive debate on @loosewomen, Danielle Lloyd and her designer baby - failing to acknowledge the 1 in 7 couples in the U.K. experiencing infertility. Be thankful for what you have. Every child is a blessing. Boy or girl."

"She should be grateful for what she already has. It's messing with nature and she should stop being selfish ....me me me!!" another added.

"Danielle Lloyd’s sons must feel great knowing they’re not quite good enough..." a third wrote.

Another suggested adoption as an alternative: "I really don’t understand why she hasn’t adopted a little girl who needs a family then..."

"Danielle Lloyd what an idiot. After 2 recurrent miscarriages I would be grateful to have a baby in the first place," one more tweeted.

Lloyd welcomed her fourth son Ronnie last year, her first child with fiance Michael O’Neill.

She also has Archie, seven, Harry, six, and four-year-old George from her previous marriage to footballer Jamie O’Hara.
