Good News For Simpsons Fans!

It seemed like some of our favourite Simpsons characters were in jeopardy when Harry Shearer announced he was leaving the show... but now the show's been thrown a lifeline!

According to EW, Shearer, who voices a multitude of characters including Mr Burns, Flanders and Principal Skinner, has signed the same contract as did the other five primary voice actors- Dan Castellaneta, Yeardley Smith, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, and Hank Azaria keeping the show’s original cast fully intact.

It's believed he'll receive more than $300,000 per episode as the show continues into season 27th and 28th.

The executive producer of the show Al Jean, tweeted a statement saying "I would like to clear up a misunderstanding. I have recently been told that during a period where Harry Shearer believed he had a five week free period from the Simpsons, I was unaware of this fact, and did in fact request material from him. If so, my bad. I am truly glad he is returning to the show."

The season 27 premiere of The Simpsons will air on September 27th in the States.
