Jimmy Fallon's Freak Accident- "I Was Going to Lose My Finger"

One small trip on a rug meant Jimmy Fallon was staring down the barrel of losing his ring finger!

Following a two week break from his nightly show, Fallon explained on The Tonight Show he busted the finger in question “sideways” forcing him to have some serious surgery.

Doctors in the ER told him it was a ring avulsion- a gruesome occurrence during which your ring gets caught on something and causes severe damage to the skin, nerves, and vessels.

Jimmy explained, “Apparently the odds aren’t great with these things… Usually they just cut your finger off. So, I was going to lose my finger." 

"So this guy did surgery for like six hours — microsurgery — so it’s like under a microscope. He had to take a vein out of my foot. It’s a crazy story!” After the extensive micro-surgery, the comedian spent 10 days in the Intensive Care Unit.

The good news is that the finger has regained blood flow and Jimmy is happily laughing about the accident now!
