We initially thought that Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them would be a trilogy of films, but J.K. Rowling has now confirmed there will be FIVE!
The films are based off J.K. Rowling's spin-off book Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, a prequel to the Harry Potter series.
“We were doing some script sessions the other day,” Rowling said during a worldwide Facebook Live event in promotion of Fantastic Beasts. “We always knew it was going to be more than one movie. We knew that from the start. We set a trilogy as a placeholder. I’ve now done the plotting properly, and we’re pretty sure it’s going to be five movies.”
During the fan event, director David Yates also confirmed our suspicions that both Grindelwald and Dumbledore will be featured in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, with dark wizard Grindelwald playing a significant role in the films to come.
There hasn't been confirmation yet as to whether Michael Gambon will reprise his role as Dumbledore in the films.
