Natalia Kills - now known as Teddy Sinclair - and Willy Moon made headlines around the country as judges on the X-Factor New Zealand, but now the pair have made a comeback with their first album as Cruel Youth.

The pair landed themselves in hot water on X-Factor when they bullied contestant Joe Irvine on air, and moved to Los Angeles quickly afterwards.

They formed Cruel Youth with guitarist Lauren Stockner earlier this year, and have already received high acclaim for their debut single Mr Watson, which earned them comparisons to the likes of Lana Del Rey and Amy Winehouse.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sinclair - who has written songs for stars like Rihanna and Madonna - says their album +30g is "the purest dose of me you can get”.

“I’ve been through a few things that people normally wouldn’t repeat out loud in conversation, let alone a song, but when you put beautiful music behind these things and you get to say it out loud, I think you’re turning sad or tragic moments into something really beautiful. There’s nothing like a big ‘f*** you’ and a glass of champagne," she says.

"There’s absolutely no filter. It’s gone. I think when you listen back to my other records, the lyricism, stories, personal torment and the experiences I’ve had of not really giving a f***, they’ve always been there. Now, the whole thing connects to the music as well."
