Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will break royal protocol this Christmas

Last week Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement.

And the couple are already set to break a royal 'rule' - and one that was strictly followed by Prince William and Kate.

Yep, it's royal protocol unmarried monarchs aren't allowed to have their partners spend Christmas with the Windors.

However, it appears the 36-year-old actress is already on such good terms with her in-laws-to-be, she’s set to spend Christmas with the Queen at Sandringham and not at home in California.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams, told Express.co.uk: "It is expected Meghan will join Harry and the rest of the Royal Family for Christmas on the Queen 's estate in Norfolk this year.

"In 2010 Kate was not invited to do so after her engagement to William nor was Mike Tindall after his to the Princess Royal's daughter Zara Phillips. Only spouses and close family are usually invited."
