In a bizarre sequence of events, singer Katy Perry is currently embroiled in a legal battle after her attempt to buy a former convent has been blocked by two elderly nuns.
The LA Times reports that Perry inked a deal with Los Angeles Archbishop Jose Gomez to purchase a convent in Los Feliz with $14.5 million in cash.
However, two nuns who previously lived there have claimed that only they have the right to sell the property. And, apparently, they did just that two weeks ago, selling it to restaurateur Dana Hollister.
The archdiocese has since sued to stop the sale, but The Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary are unswayed.
Speaking to the LA Times, Sister Rita Callanan said: "Well, I found Katy Perry and I found her videos and, if it’s all right to say, I wasn’t happy with any of it."
Perry, whose parents are both Christian pastors, has tried to change the Sisters’ minds by visiting them in person. The popstar reportedly dressed conservatively and sang ‘Oh Happy Day’ for them. She even showed them a ‘Jesus’ tattoo on her wrist, to try and sway them.
For some weird reason though, the nuns aren’t too fond of Perry’s provocative lyrics, her love of kissing girls or her propensity to shoot whipped cream from her breasts. Maybe they don’t know about her Christian rock album.
The sisters are also concerned about their own living expenses should the archdiocese profit from the sale of property they believe is rightfully theirs.
