But Meghan Markle says she wants to focus on pushing through glass ceilings, not a princess' glass slippers.

The Suits actress has written for women's magazine Elle about the personal difficulties she has faced reconciling her work abroad with the UN with the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, according to the Daily Mail.

She wrote that she struggled to put on her heels and dress as she came back from Rwanda and straight into an awards show.

Markle wrote: "My brain, heart and spirit couldn't shift gears that quickly, from the purpose-driven work I had been doing all week in Rwanda to the polished glamour of an awards show.

"I've never wanted to be a lady who lunches; I've always wanted to be a woman who works.

"With fame comes opportunity, but it also includes responsibility – to advocate and share, to focus less on glass slippers and more on pushing through glass ceilings.:

The actress has often credited her upbringing and her hard-working parents with her global outlook and early commitment to feminist principles.
