Adele released her brand new album 25 last Friday (November 20) and quickly shattered *NSYNC‘s single-week debut sales, moving 2.433 million copies in four days.
The record was previously set by the group’s No Strings Attached, which sold 2.416 million copies in 2000. Band member Joey Fatone told Billboard, “”In all honesty, Adele is the truth — kind of excited a rare talent like hers is in the same breath as our group. I’m a huge fan … I even bought the damn album.”
Lance Bass also praised the British singer-songwriter’s success by writing a pun-filled congratulatory tweet (below). JC Chasez tipped his hat with a simple “well done” on Twitter and told Billboard, “Records were made to be broken.” He added, “It was a flattering luxury knowing we sold more records than anyone in a week but it’s also nice seeing people continue to be passionate about music in the next generations. Adele proves that emotion and art are alive and well in music today.”
