Why Taylor Swift Isn't At The MTV Video Music Awards

Taylor Swift, who has not been nominated for any awards this year, is not attending the star-studded event at Madison Square Garden in New York which began at 1pm today (29 Aug).

Sources told The Independent the 26-year-old pop star, who split from DJ Calvin Harris this year, was never scheduled to go to the ceremony.

Kanye West, who famously interrupted Swift's acceptance speech at the 2009 VMAs, will attend this year's show and has reportedly been promised four minutes of stage time at the event.

Adele and Beyonce will compete with Rihanna, Sia and Ariana Grande for the best female video prize.

West and Drake are nominated in the best male video category, along with Bryson Tiller, Calvin Harris and The Weeknd.
