Have you ever wondered what it is that men find so attractive in a woman?

Well, wonder no more!

Thanks to a report from Business Insider, we've learnt that when a man checks out a woman, he's completing a "reproductive fitness assessment".

Which is basically the male brain subconsciously assessing how healthy and fertile women are to see if they would make a good mother to their babies.

So what does the "reproductive fitness assessment" look for?

According to the report, these are the six features ...

1. High pitched voice
   Apparently, high pitched voices are perceived as youthful and feminine ... and youth is biologically favourable for bearing healthy children.
   
   
2. Smaller waist to hip ratio
   Apparently, the 7:10 ratio is the optimal proportion as wider hips are associated with childbearing and dainty waists emphasise the curve.
   
   
3. Wearing red
   We've heard this a million times before, but the colour red is instinctively attractive to men! Time to don a red dress, a hue of red lipstick or a powerful red nail polish.
   
   
4. Smiling
   But not just smiling. Having whiter teeth will instantly make you more attractive to men.
   
   
5. Wearing less makeup
   It's time to forgo that heavy foundation and winged eyeliner. That's right, men prefer women who wear up to 40 per cent less makeup than the average woman.
   
   
6. Healthy hair
   Long, luscious locks are what men are after, as having healthy hair implies that you have a healthy body and are fertile.
