'Asteroid Impact Will Destroy Civilisation This September'

If doomsday theorists are to be believed, a huge asteroid will hit earth, bringing on the apocalypse.

Predictors have pinpointed the date of the worlds end to be between 22-28 September.

Their belief is that a huge asteroid will collide with our planet, bringing on the rapture.

Scientists, however, aren’t quite convinced, and have rubbished the claims. They say that asteroids burn up when entering the worlds atmosphere, and usually break up into shards and burn up before reaching the ground.

A NASA spokesperson said:

"NASA knows of no asteroid or comet currently on a collision course with Earth, so the probability of a major collision is quite small.

In fact, as best as we can tell, no large object is likely to strike the Earth any time in the next several hundred years."

Well that is a relief.
