Avril Lavigne Explains 5 Months Absence, Confirms She Had Lymes Disease

Since opening up in December & tweeting that she was unwell, Avril Lavigne has been virtually undercover for the past 5 months.

Rumours included a breakup with Chad Kroeger or a secret pregnancy, but the true story is a whole lot different. In an interview with Avril, People Magazine has reported that she turned out to have a severe case of Lyme Disease. 

Usually received from Tick bites, Lyme Disease symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, and rashes. If left untreated, infection can spread to joints, the heart, and the nervous system.

"I felt like I couldn't breathe, I couldn't talk and I couldn't move," she says. "I thought I was dying." 

Her mom moved in to help take care of her, while her husband Chad Kroeger, 40, stepped in when he could during breaks in his tour with Nickelback. 

"There were definitely times I couldn't shower for a full week because I could barely stand," she says. "It felt like having all your life sucked out of you." 

Lavigne is now feeling "80% better" and says the ordeal has been a big wake-up call.
